Marathons for Motor Neurone Disease

2nd March 2026

The RNBT is here to support our beneficiaries and their families through some of life’s toughest challenges. Former Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer Jon Over served for 23 years, primarily at RNAS Yeovilton, working on Lynx and Wildcat helicopters. In March 2025, Jon was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a rare progressive condition affecting the brain and nervous system.

While The RNBT and our South East Caseworker supports Jon and his family following his diagnosis, we wanted to take this opportunity to share the extraordinary efforts Jon is making to raise funds for others.

On 26 April, Jon will take on the London Marathon with his support crew of three, followed by the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon on 10 May with a larger team of more than 20 runners. Jon will be completing both events in a specially adapted pushchair, aiming to raise £100,000 of vital funds that will go to the MND Association and Somerset Village and Community Agents.
