Three Years of Care, Compassion and Camaraderie: Admiral Jellicoe House Marks Its 3rd Anniversary

12th June 2025

This Saturday, 14th June marks three years since the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust (The RNBT) proudly opened the doors to Admiral Jellicoe House, our state-of-the-art care home for naval veterans in Portsmouth. Since welcoming our first residents in 2022, the home has become a place of warmth, dignity and dedicated care for those who served our nation at sea.

Admiral Jellicoe House is more than just a care home – it’s a living tribute to the naval community. With dedicated dementia care, tailored nursing support, and a team who understand the unique experiences of service life, the home has built a reputation for compassion rooted in shared history.

Over the past three years, we’ve celebrated birthdays, shared stories of heroism, remembered shipmates, and honoured milestones. Veterans and their families have found peace of mind in knowing that their loved ones are in safe, understanding hands – supported not only by professional excellence but by deep respect for a lifetime of service.

Residents such as WWII veteran Robin, 101, whose bravery and moral strength embody the very best of the Royal Navy’s traditions. Meanwhile, Wrens like Mabel, 99, who received her first taste of Navy rum on VE Day, remind us that women’s contributions to our maritime heritage are just as proud. From Remembrance parades to singalongs, from quiet moments of reflection to the bustle of community celebrations, Admiral Jellicoe House continues to be a vibrant home where stories are shared, friendships formed, and every shipmate is remembered.

We are immensely proud of what Admiral Jellicoe House has become. Here’s to the next chapter in providing care fit for the service and sacrifice of our naval family.
