CQC Rating
Following the recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in February, Admiral Jellicoe House has been rated Requires Improvement. We recognise this rating is not the outcome we would have liked and want to reassure residents and their families that the home continues to provide a caring, supportive and safe environment, with staff who are dedicated to delivering high-quality, person-centred care every day.
Over the past year, the home has been through a period of change, with a strong focus on improving and placing the residents’ experience, care and wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. While some improvements are already in place, others are continuing to be embedded and strengthened. The report reflects this period of transition within the home, with both the positive changes and areas requiring further improvement identified.
We acknowledge and take seriously the areas requiring improvement. The inspection highlighted the areas for us to focus on; strengthening systems and checks, improving records and consistency and ensuring everything supports the quality of care being delivered. The Home Management team have already started this work, producing an Action Plan in response to the CQC report, strengthening our Quality Assurance Framework and strengthening senior management and HR support.
The inspection highlighted many positive aspects of the home. The CQC team commented on the kind, caring and respectful nature of our staff and that they support residents in a way that suits them within a home that feels welcoming and supportive.
We are particularly pleased that the home was rated Outstanding for the individualised care that residents receive every day. This reflects the personalised care, activities and environment within the home and links closely to the Meaningful Care Matters work that has been taking place.
The momentum for improvement is already evident within the home, reflected in the positive response to recent changes. We are confident that this progress will continue, and we remain focused on strengthening the areas identified in the report through ongoing engagement with our residents, families and staff ensuring a sustained journey of improvement.
Admiral Jellicoe House has an Overall Rating of Requires Improvement, as per the latest CQC report, published on 26 March 2026.
