The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association – Forces Help (SSAFA) is the national charity helping serving and ex-serving men, women and their families in need. They often act as the casework organisation for the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust.

The Royal British Legion is the UK’s leading charity safeguarding the welfare, interests and memory of those who have served in the Armed Forces and their dependants. It provides financial, social and emotional support to millions and its benevolence spans all age groups from the oldest to the very young. The legion now provides advice and information on housing and residential care. They often act as the casework organisation for the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust.

Formerly King George’s Fund for Sailors which was founded by King George V in 1917 and is the only central fund making grants to nautical charities which look after the welfare needs of seafarers and their dependants in the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy and the Fishing Fleet. Help ranges from care of elderly seafarers to financial help for those still serving who hit problems brought on by ill health, disability, homelessness, unemployment, broken homes and bereavement. Seafarers' children also benefit with help in education. Seafarers UK currently administers the Gulf Trust Fund for those involved in both Gulf Conflicts.

The WRNS Benevolent Trust exists to provide relief in cases of necessity or distress amongst its members and their dependants.  The Trust may also make grants for assistance with further education for members.  A member is anyone who served in the Women's Royal Naval Service and transferred to the Royal Navy before 1 November 1993, or anyone who has served in the WRNS since 3 September 1939.  The Trust helps both officers and ratings, help is not restricted to members living in this country; we have cases on our books where recipients live overseas.  The Trust is co-located with the RNBT in Portsmouth.

The Royal Naval & Royal Marines' Children's Fund provide assistance for the children of those serving or who have served in the Royal Navy or Royal Marines. (Co-located with the RNBT in Portsmouth.)

The Officers' Association is a charity dedicated to assisting officers who have retired or are about to retire from Her Majesty's Armed Forces. The Association was founded in 1919 and received the Royal Charter in 1921

The Royal Naval Association was granted its Royal Charter in 1954. Established to further the efficiency and well being of the service, preserve its traditions and encourage recruiting.

An executive agency of the Ministry of Defence intended to work in partnership with other organisations to deliver the war pensions scheme through a modernised and high quality customer focused system.

Combat Stress provides welfare support and remedial treatment to Veterans suffering from psychological injury caused by traumatic experiences in service (including PTSD)

The Federation has been set up to give Royal Navy and Royal Marine families an independent voice. They also publish the Homeport magazine.

The Sailors' Families' Society, is a maritime charity caring for the children of deceased and disabled seafarers and those in severe financial hardship. Founded in 1821, the emphasis is on assisting the children in their own homes. Through the Family Support Scheme the Society currently supports over 430 children whose families have served in the in the fishing fleets or the Royal or Merchant navies.

BLESMA is a National Charityfor Limbless and Ex-Service Men and Women, their dependants and Widows. The objectives of the Association are to promote the welfare of all those of either sex who have lost a limb or limbs, or one or both eyes, or the use of limbs as a result of service in any branch of Her Majesty's Forces or Auxiliary Forces and to assist needy dependants of such service limbless. We will also help those who lose a limb after service. Today, BLESMA are aiding thousands of amputees of all ages. From those who served during WWII, to recent conflicts and peace keeping missions.

RSR is a Christian charity dedicated to supporting Naval Service personnel and their families. Motivated by the love of God, and in close co-operation with the Naval authorities, RSR achieves this calling by Seeking to befriend and support Naval Personnel and their families, providing facilities for education and recreation and addressing other specific areas of need identified with Service life. ( Working 'for the glory of God and the good of the Service' since 1876.)

The WWA is essentially a pressure group and exists to improve the conditions of War Widows and their dependants in Great Britain. Its work encompasses not only those who have suffered bereavement from the last World War and as a result of more recent conflicts such as Korea ,the Falklands and the Gulf but also those who have suffered the loss of their husband in peacetime, when his death was attributable to his service life. It works with all Government departments, petitioning for improvement in pensions, the administration of benefits and other issues affecting War Widows. It represents War Widows at national events of remembrance. It maintains close links with all ex-Service organisations and the Service widows' associations.

Since we were founded in 1839 our aim has been the same, to relieve distress among the seafaring and ex-seafaring community. Thankfully, shipwrecks are fewer but they still occur bringing tragedy in their wake, and then there are those who have left the sea, through accident, ill-health or on retirement and their dependants who are living on meagre incomes and in need of assistance.

Our remit is to help ex-Service men & women who served The Crown and are now in need. Benevolence monies are dispensed to beneficiaries through a network of ex-Service organisations across the Commonwealth.

The Forces Children’s Trust is a charity devoted to helping dependant children that have lost a parent whilst serving with the Armed Forces. The FCT, by reason of its aims and size, has the flexibility and ability to make decisions and offer help as needed, with minimum fuss and consequent time-loss. It is able to help both an individual and a group of children in similar circumstances.
