The Trust relies increasingly on support by individuals and associated organisations that fortunately continues to grow annually and for which we are very grateful. Over 30% of our income comes from a number of long-term sponsors, and some 20% from our investments.
Grants From Organisations
Several of the Naval oriented organisations have been substantial long-term sponsors Greenwich Hospital (www.grenhosp.org.uk) Seafarers UK (www.seafarers-uk.org) Queen Mary's Roehampton Trust). More recently additional resources have been provided from the Naval 'Sports Amenities Benevolence' scheme (SABS) and Grants to provide Benevolence on behalf of the new "RN & RM Charity.
Donations From Organisations and Individuals
It is very gratifying that our good works are recognised by organisations and individuals (mostly with Naval connections) and that they, in turn, provide us with valuable resources, they are too numerous to mention here but available to view in the "List of Current Donors" and in our reports from previous years. See RNBT Publications.
Legacies
Legacies left by those who remember the RNBT in their Wills are another valued source that have increased significantly in recent years. See Donations & Legacies/Leaving a Legacy.
Care Home
Income from our care home is used to finance its operations and represents another major source of funding. See Care Home/Pembroke House.
Investment Income
The Trusts investments provide a regular income that is used mostly to provide assistance to our beneficiaries. It is unfortunate that in years when we do not receive sufficient grants and income from investments, some of our capital has to be used to fund our welfare spending.
As Seafarers UK has the main responsibility for fundraising on behalf of all Naval Charities the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust does not directly fundraise on its own behalf, although considerable effort is put into raising the profile of the Trust and advertising its works.
